Les Éditions J.A.M is an independent Quebec publishing house founded to welcome works shaped by memory, human truth, transmission, and the light that persists after chaos.

Quebec Memory Transmission Authorial voice
A publishing house born to turn absence into legacy.

J.A.M connects the intimate and the transmissible. The house begins with a founding voice, but it is not meant to remain limited to that one voice: over time it is intended to welcome other striking books and other authors.

Who we are

Les Éditions J.A.M is an independent editorial structure. It stands behind literature in which lived experience is not a background element, but an essential material: what marks us, what breaks us, what lifts us back up, and what must keep circulating.

The house favors a voice that is clear, inhabited, and dignified, capable of reaching both the intimate and the universal. It does not aim to smooth stories over; it aims to give them a form that lasts.

Where we come from

The house takes root in a family story shattered by the 1996 Saguenay flood. On that night, Mathieu and Andréa Paquet-Garceau, Jason’s brother and sister, lost their lives when the family home was swept away. For Jason, that tragedy was never just a childhood memory: it left a lasting fracture and permanently shaped his relationship to memory, absence, injustice, and the work of going on.

Les Éditions J.A.M is born from that reality. It exists so that this lived experience is neither reduced to an archive nor buried in silence. Through the book, the publishing house, and the projects that will follow, Jason wants to preserve Mathieu and Andréa’s memory, carry forward a human truth, and offer works that may reach others living through grief, trauma, and rebuilding.

Founding name

Why J.A.M

J.A.M first carries three presences: Jason, Andréa, Mathieu. Three letters, three lives, one breath. The name keeps a family memory alive and places the house within a duty of continuity rather than erasure.

For its founder, the word also evokes the musical jam: that free space where one improvises from what burns, resists, and seeks a true form. Les Éditions J.A.M carries that same idea: to publish out of necessity rather than noise.

Our editorial direction

The house is drawn to works that leave a real trace: autobiographical narratives, texts of reconstruction, novels inhabited by human fracture, voices of grief, resilience, remembrance, or light.

The criterion is not genre alone, but the human density of the text, its sincerity, its reach, and its ability to keep living inside the reader.

What we publish

The catalog opens with Entre Chaos et Lumière and continues with La Traversée. In time, Les Éditions J.A.M is meant to welcome other titles, other forms, and other voices, as long as they carry a real necessity and a language that endures.

The house therefore moves forward with a strong identity without closing itself off: it begins in one precise story so it can open itself to other profound trajectories.
